Definition and Usage

The name property sets or returns the value of the name attribute of a URL field.

The name attribute is used to identify form data after it has been submitted to the server, or to reference form data using JavaScript on the client side.

Note: Only form elements with a name attribute will have their values passed when submitting a form.

The name property is supported in all major browsers.

Note: The <input type="url"> element is not supported in Internet Explorer 9 and earlier versions, or in Safari.


Syntax

Return the name property:

urlObject.name

Set the name property:

urlObject.name=name
